Bon anniversaire

White on gold looks great, but need a thicker white.

Beth's butterfly

I'm often amazed by my photographic abilities, can you believe this design was all cut from a hot pink paper. Think 70% magenta - not red!

All hearts and flowers

For Sylvia and Mark:

I love float mounting the design, the shadows just make it really work.

x-stitch love

The crocheting thing isn't doing it for me at the mo, even though I have a great passion for it and a string of project ideas that I'd like to do, but x-stitch has really hit the spot.

working late

You know you've been working too late when this comes up on your screen:

(it probably doesn't mean anything to you guys) but then I was quite pleased with the results, too:

Going gocco

I have treated myself to a gocco printer, which I adore! This is my first attempt using the print machine and I've fallen in love with gocco. So the card seemed appropriate.

I forsee more gocco cards down the line, mmm…

Look at the bright side

One evening, I decided to make a papercut as a present for a friend's wedding. I was really pleased with it, it took me hours too. (Check out the supplies that accompany such a design!)

However, the following morning I decided that I wouldn't feel right giving this as a pressie as it wasn't my original design (I believe the original was designed by KGS Design).

Now I don't know what to do with it, but I can't bear to throw it away either.
The original is just beautiful as it is:

A pleasant surprise

How does the saying go… "Speak of the devil and he shall appear" is that it?
Look what came in the post today, two file copies for me. Yay!

The card is not as strong as I thought it would be, and they haven't used all the pops as I'd planned but it's still really good to see in it's full colour glory.

Publishing

I don't often talk about my other 'job' on here, that my day job is as a paper-engineer for children's books, but I have had a really busy year with various projects. Here are a few of them.

I should hasten to add, none of the illustrations are mine it's just the mechanisms/pop-ups that are my hard work. I also don't know if any, or all, these books went into final production. They may even be in the shops by now, so look out for them!

M.I.A

Hello!

Recently, I've been missing my blog and felt it was high time that I re-entered the blog world. Who knows how long it will last this time but what can I say? Life kinda tends to take over.

I'm mainly blaming this young man, Wilf

At my quilting group we have been beavering away together to make a 'red, white and blue' quilt to be auctioned off for charity. I'd like to point out which were my blocks, but I didn't get mine finished in time for this photo (another thing that had slipped) but I have got made them in time for the finished quilt. Phew!

I've also started going to a stitch-and-bitch at the wonderful Hoop trying to kick start my own 'sewing for fun' projects.

and started to learn how to crochet, just for good measure!

Flower girls

I love creating my Durer Names (as I call them in my head) there is something so satisfying about them emerging, cut by cut, from the paper. But I can honestly say that I didn't even consider doing more than one name at a time until I received Lucy's commission.
Lucy has 4 daughters and wanted their names entwined together into one piece. Et voila!
